Behind The Art
An interview with Izabella Parisi || Grade 11

Art is a stepping stone for creativity, inspiration, and growing my own skills. I started drawing when I was in elementary school and have just always enjoyed it. It’s always sort of been in my family, my dad has more of an illustrator background and my mom is a really talented oil painter. Creativity is something that can’t be forced, so I just create when I feel inspired or have the urge to draw.
Over time I’ve gained new knowledge and skills on how to improve and find my own style. From the first portrait in 2021, I look back and obviously see the improvements that can be made. But I like to remember that everyone has to start somewhere. In the future, as my style evolves from 2024 I would like to explore a more cartoon realism similar to the artist I first stumbled upon on Youtube.
This was my first portrait in digital art using Clip Studio from April 2021. I had never tried this style of art. I had mostly done stuff on paper. I was inspired by @samdoesart, a youtuber who does Photoshop tutorials on creating digital portraits. This took me over the course of 2 days to finish.
This 2024 digital portrait shows my current digital art style. This took me about 4 days to complete using Clip Studio. My style has evolved into showing more detail, using less blending, and a better use of shading and color.
